Harmony, Tolley Marney's newest hand forged steel and wood sculpture won the Commissioner's Choice Award in this year's 2012 Annual Palm Springs City Art Show. To collect Tolley’s art.
This sculpture is a mixed media piece that is over 5' tall. Tolley made the chairs from wood and also inlaid oak into the steel figure. The umbrella is steel and cotton canvas.
Tolley writes prose for his sculptures. Here is the piece he wrote for Harmony:
Harmony
Harmony is nature, and we are of nature.
The winds are blowing through the limbs of the redwoods,
while the rain falls on the meadows below.
Sweetness of smell engages our senses.
We bow to its glory.
As the sun sets on the desert floor causing the skt to erupt in fire and light, the stillness of night approaches.
Now is the time to praise our being.
While looking up to the heavens for our prayers,
the rhythm of the ocean waves crashes upon the
shores, carving our souls for all to see.
Harmony is all of this,
the place where we find our peace, our heaven.
